Elizabeth Warren’s Image
I am very biased about certain things and this is one of them, so I did a Google search of “Elizabeth Warren” and looked at the first 2 pages of all the provided links to find what was most popular. I found that there are both positive and negative opinions of Elizabeth, her beliefs and positions. Between my personal knowledge and my searches, I found that Elizabeth is seen as a democrat, women’s rights activist, bankruptcy and financials expert, middle class activist, very outspoken but lacking charisma, and a women who has pushed her way from the bottom, up the success pyramid. One sight even called her the new “John Edwards,” for her ability to re-shape the policy debates.”

S.W.O.T. Analysis
Like any individual in the political realm, there are many different strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats affecting their possibly candidacy in the 2016 elections. Some of Elizabeth’s strengths include her ability to be very outspoken, not afraid to say what others are too afraid to say, experience of 20 plus years working for the greater good of society, push for women’s equality, high knowledge of finances and her countless and continued efforts to help and push the middle class to success. Warren was also the first female to be elected to the Senate from Massachusetts and many people would like to see the first female president as well.
On the other hand, there are weaknesses that may affect Warren’s candidacy in 2016 as well. There are many people who believe that Warren is too old wont be able to properly connect with the citizens and that her lack of charisma will hurt her candidacy. She has also never held or even ran for office, which could put her facing a large disadvantage. Some even state that being a federal bureaucrat and a Harvard professor doesn’t qualify you to run the nation.
First and far most important, Warren should use this time before elections to make proper use of her opportunities and become more of a charismatic and relatable individual because I have seen a lot of media and posts that bag on her for her lack of charisma. She should also continue to work towards lessening the hold that Wall Street has on our economy and continue with the advancements of women’s rights and the middle class.
A major threat that Elizabeth is facing is that, Brown has already raised 10 million dollars for his campaign, while Warren has yet to begin raising funds for a campaign. Some say that she is not as strong of a candidate for the democratic party as Obama was which also leaves her out for much criticism.

 The Issues
Elizabeth is a strong women’s rights activist, so she is pro-abortion and supports the use to freely use contraception. She also supports the EDNA act, ObamaCare, same-sex marriage, gun control, equal pay equal work, harsher rules on credit agencies and better use of government money. She has recently been very popular in the media regarding the need to get more control on Wall Street’s power. I think Warren will continue to highlight the issues relating to women’s rights, controlling Wall Street and helping the middle class and she should continue highlighting these in the 2016 campaigns. Warren has based a lot of her image on the advancements of the middle class, which has been a large part of her popularity today. She has made an idol of herself to the middle class citizens, for her efforts of hard work and determination have made her the success she is today. She also focuses a lot on civil rights and the rights of women. I think Warren should continue her efforts for these issues but also try to be more involved in other aspects such as; job creations or other economic growth issues.

  1. Warren's ability to relate to the Middle Class and not come across as a wealthy high class, born and bred politician could work in her favor if she can get financial backers. I could see her becoming the kind of politician that the lower and middle class citizens want to rise up and support, like many did for Obama in the last 2 elections, but she will need more than that to run a successful campaign financially.

  2. I know that you mentioned in this blog post that Warren needs to become more charismatic, which I agree with, especially if she wants to go far in this election. In your opinion though, what specific steps can she take to become a more "charismatic" and "relatable" individual?

  3. "...very outspoken but lacking charisma, and a women who has pushed her way from the bottom, up the success pyramid. One sight even called her the new “John Edwards,” for her ability to re-shape the policy debates.” I am intrigued by this. I have to admit I don't know much about Elizabeth Warren. I do like that she has achieved so much success in a heavily male-dominated arena. Do you think she has the ability to change that image of not really being relatable?

  4. You say that a threat could be her age. How old is she? Is she really older than many of the others who have ran for president? Also I find it very interesting that she is trying to jump the gun and run for the presidency when she has no experience in office before.

  5. Since I am also following Elizabeth Warren I found this very useful and helpful and I completely agree with you that she does need to be charismatic, she can almost come off as dull in certain situation, but this was an overall great read, thanks!

  6. Elizabeth hasn't announced that she will run for the elections in 2016, she has actually told a couple sources that she does not have intentions to run. This will sound repeated, but I think that Elizabeth needs to learn to smile more and learn to have more "open arms" to liven up her personality and have more charisma. It doesn't take much for someone to show ways of having charisma. However, I know that Warren's bluntness has really stood out. She has called so many issues out that many other people would be afraid to do. She has really shown her outspoken ability. If you would like to see her in action, I added a link thats really cool to watch! She's standing up for us and our money! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/12/12/elizabeth-warren-citigroup-bill_n_6318446.html
